NEWS FROM THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Dear Consortium members and veterans,
This past month has had several military recognitions, including Military Spouse Appreciation Day (May 10), Armed Forces Day (May 18), and of course, Memorial Day (May 27). Our society is correctly determined to ensure that citizens are aware of and can show gratitude for the sacrifices made by our service members and their families, from the daily challenges to the supreme sacrifice offered by so many.
Upcoming events will continue this military focus. Military members and veterans can learn about resources available to them at resource fairs, and several are scheduled to happen in our area this month. Chester County will host its Veterans Resource Fair on Saturday, June 1 from 11:00am – 2:00pm at Greencastle Consulting in Malvern. Music, food and fun included! Information here or at chesco.org.
Delaware County’s Veteran Resource event will be held on June 4 from 9:00 am-12:00 pm at the Springfield YMCA, 194 West Sproul Road in Springfield. Resource and services information and a Mission BBQ lunch are planned. This event is sponsored by the Delaware County DMVA, https://delcopa.gov/vetaffairs/.
We are especially proud to share that our own board member, Paula Crawford-Gamble, CAPT (Ret), US Navy Reserve, is being honored by the Pennsylvania Governor’s Advisory Commission on Women for her achievements and commitment to Pennsylvania. Paula serves as the Veterans Care Excellence liaison at Penn Medicine and is a strong advocate for veterans throughout the region. Congratulations, Paula!
We would like to acknowledge and thank Collie Turner, founder of Heroic Gardens, for her help as editor of this newsletter for the past year. Many hands make light work in volunteer organizations like DVVC, and we appreciate your time and expertise! If someone would like to step up to that task, please contact a board member, or send an email to: dvvcinfo@gmail.com.
Thanks to each member organization of DVVC for your continuing efforts to support our region’s veterans. Seasons change and the support veterans require may change with them, but I am proud to live where veterans are known, recognized and supported by such a dynamic group of service organizations.

DVVC Board member
Director of Veterans Services, Saint Joseph’s University
